Fox Vs Lobster
Spent some time working on some new softie designs today - inspired by my daughter's endlessly creative and strange thought, patterns for a new foxy lady and her lobster friend will be arriving soon, to purchase from my Etsy shop as a PDF download or ready-made kit with all the fabrics included. I will also be introducing this pair to my workshops, for anyone who wants to get hands on and make their very own Fox Vs Lobster combo.
Pictures soon... I have made a lovely prototype foxie, but she has disappeared into my daughter's bedroom, never to be seen again...

New workshops for 2011 - 2012!
Seeing as I've had a whole 3 months of maternity leave, I thought it was time I got started on devising my new selection of creative workshops - coming to a venue near you soon!

Ruby Ramona Creative Workshops
If you want to have a go at some making, I offer an exciting range of textile-based workshops suitable for lots of different ages and abilities. Workshops are based around sharing ideas, making friends, learning new skills and having a play with equipment like sewing machines, die cutters and badge makers!
Students can take home everything they make, and can also keep the patterns they’ve used so they can re-create items as many times as they like at home.
Ruby Ramona workshops are available to book for private events at home, museums and galleries, parties, schools and play schemes and many more occasions and settings.
I provide all materials and equipment needed, as well as lots of enthusiasm and expertise!
(All patterns and finished items are for personal use only, for you or as gifts to give away. Please don’t re-sell anything you’ve made from Ruby Ramona patterns, it just ain’t fair!)
Skill levels
Beginner - "I have never picked up a needle, or handled a sewing machine, in my life!"
Intermediate - "I can sew straight, plain stitches by hand or with a sewing machine."
Improver - "I am confident with hand and machine sewing and have completed quite a few sewing projects."
Advanced - "I know it all, and am going to put the teacher to shame. Challenge me!"
The workshops
Stitch Basics
Learn basic hand and machine sewing by completing a choice of fun projects - felt toys, purses, wrist cuffs, corsages, hair bands, coasters and more.
Skill level: Beginner
Felt beads, badges and brooches
Make colourful jewellery using fleece and ready-made felt. Involves a very small amount of sewing and a lot of glue!
Skill level: Beginner
Softies and felties
Design and make a cute soft toy from your wildest imagination! Use colourful felt, fleece, faux fur and other gorgeous fabrics to make your cuddly creature come alive.
Skill level: Intermediate to advanced

Create a fantastic “alternative” rag doll, based on pop culture icons or your own friends or family. Give your doll her/his own personality and a wardrobe you’ll be jealous of!
Skill level: Intermediate to advanced
Toddle totes and treasure baskets
Sew a cute and colourful bag for your little one, complete with a set of bean-bag animals, or make an exciting treasure basket for them to explore.
Skill level: Intermediate to improver
Bags and purses
Create your own designer tote bag or zip purse using a beautiful array of fabrics and trimmings.
Skill level: Intermediate to improver
Textile jewellery
Design and make a colourful wrist cuff, tecklace (textile necklace!), brooch or ring using felt, beads, silk, pearls, wire, embroidery, print and photography. Create your own personalised, wearable art!
Skill level: Intermediate to advanced
Workshops for younger children, babies and families
I also devise and run a range of drop-in workshops for younger children and families, and creative and messy play sessions for babies and toddlers. Details will be uploaded here shortly, in the meantime please contact me to find out more!
